Updated version of Waterpik’s toothbrush supplements your regular flossing

Dr. Dennis Lucas has a great way for you to ramp up the effectiveness of regular flossing and improve your daily cleaning routine. Our office now carries the Waterpik Sonic-Fusion® 2.0, a premium home tool that uses a water jet to help dislodge food particles, massage your gums, and enhance overall oral health.

While not a replacement for your regular flossing, this updated version of Waterpik’s popular Sonic-Fusion line combines brushing and water flossing into one handy, multi-speed tool. The friction created when you use regular string floss displaces the sticky plaque on your teeth, and the water massaging action of the Waterpik Sonic-Fusion 2.0 washes away particle residue.

You can use the Waterpik Sonic-Fusion 2.0 just for brushing, only for water flossing, or do both activities at the same time. This version features twice the bristle tip speed as the original model, with high and low toothbrush speeds, and 30 percent more flossing power from the water jet in the center of the head.

Waterpik Sonic-Fusion 2.0 is ideal for cleaning around dental work

Since Dr. Lucas specializes in cosmetic and restorative dental techniques, many of our patients ask if tools like the Waterpik Wonic-Fusion 2.0 is appropriate for them. The short answer is yes. In fact, a water flossing toothbrush is very effective when working around dental restorations and orthodontic devices.

The pulsating action of the water makes it easy to do a thorough cleaning around virtually any type of dental work. It helps you gently clean under bridges and around crowns without worrying about accidentally causing damage. Dr. Lucas recommends using string floss to remove most food residue and plaque, and then firing up the Sonic-Fusion 2.0 to rinse out any particles left behind.

A water flossing device like the Waterpik Sonic-Fusion 2.0 can take a little getting used to if you’ve never used a water flossing device before. However, it won’t take you long to figure out the most comfortable temperature for the water, and you do need to lean over the sink to let the water spill out of your mouth. Our staff can give you a quick lesson in our office and answer any questions you may have.
